The 3D Animation Program
Coming from a completely different study background, I learned that I really wanted to tell stories for a living and I was drawn to 3D animation. I took a one-year 3D course to enter the industry and after a few internships, I started as a generalist in my current studio. I kept feeling like animation was what I really wanted to do, so I decided to participate in the Animschool animation program after my regular work hours. It was tough to combine the two, but I learned so much and I met so many great people! In all of my classes, students would lift each other up and every teacher has given me the best guidance and encouragement I could have asked for. That along with the amazing character rigs we get to use made it obvious that Animschool was definitely the right choice for me.
Before enrolling, I knew my portfolio pieces weren't as great as they could have been, but I couldn't pinpoint what needed fixing. The personal guidance and feedback I received from my instructors gradually refined my artistic taste, and I can now confidently diagnose and fix those areas of improvement in my projects. One of the best things about AnimSchool is that it isn't just about learning a trade; instructors are open about their professional experiences and are very approachable if you're seeking advice. In retrospect, their stories and morals have given me a much better perspective to navigate the industry.

While a shot may look “done” in blocking plus, the real depth of motion often only starts to emerge when you stop and assess if you truly have all of the information you need. In […]
Read more..Once an animation starts to feel right, it’s easy to move on. However, that’s actually the perfect time to dig in and refine. During blocking and splining, arcs might be roughed in or implied, but in the polish phase, they need to be made intentional. If something feels off in your shot—even if you can’t […]
