In this course students create a multi-shot pantomime story, learning body kinematics in the context of acting. By using a character's expressive actions and poses, the students learn how to make a character appear to think and make decisions based on external forces or internal motivation. Students learn posing, rhythm, solidity, beats/phrasing, appeal, personality, structure, solid and malleable parts, simplicity of form, straights and curves, texture in timing, thorough blocking, moving holds and how to stage their performance for optimal presentation to an audience. Multiple shot assignments focus on hookups, screen space, and cameras, knowing shot context and importance. With their first serious attempt at storytelling at AnimSchool students express their creativity at a whole new level.

It’s hard to imagine but I’ve been in this industry for 20+ years. The first part of my career was working in TV and commercials before making the jump into feature animation, where I’ve spent the last 12 years. I spent 4 years at Sony Imageworks where I got to work on a wide range of movies from VFX such as Spider-Man Homecoming, Amazing Spider-Man 2 and full CG features like Hotel Transylvania 2, Smurfs: The Lost Village and Storks. I spent some time at Bron Animation working on the delightful quirky animation style of The Willoughbys. I've been blessed to spend 3 years at ILM working on a ranged of VFX projects like some of their Star Wars series, Voltron, etc... and the animated feature Ultraman Rising. Currently, I'm back with Sony Imageworks working as a Senior Animator on a feature animation project.
